「文字絵」とは、文字を連ねて輪郭を表したり、絵の中に文字をあしらって表現する絵のことです。平安時代から現代まで連綿と続く歴史があり、それぞれの時代で趣向が凝らされていた様々な文字絵を、その誕生、宗教的側面、遊びの側面から振り返ります。
